Tara graduated from Leeds Metropolitan University with a Master’s degree in Osteopathy. During university, Tara developed a love of treatment and it’s effect on patients.

I am an integrative therapist drawing on Psychodynamic, person-centred and cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), working with issues such as relationship difficulties, anger, low self esteem and self confidence, stress, depression, shame, loss, bereavement and anxiety. I like working creatively with dreams, images and art. I offer specialist expertise in looking at multicultural issues, especially those faced by someone from a different ethnic and cultural background looking to integrate into British society. I can also offer counselling in Hindi and Bengali.

I am a qualified BACP registered integrative counsellor/therapist, an organizational psychologist and coach. I am also currently in my final year of a Doctor in Counselling Psychology. I work with individuals (adults and young people), helping them with addictions, anxiety, depression and panic attacks, anger & stress management, bereavement and loss, chronic fatigue, eating disorders, relationship problems, self-development, trauma and work/career/school related issues. I am a Psychotherapist accredited by the BABCP, with over 15 years experience in all aspects of CBT. I treat depression, low self-esteem and low confidence and all anxiety disorders including: panic, agoraphobia, social anxiety, blood / injury phobia, work related stress, hoarding.
My aim: I am dedicated to helping people develop their strengths to reach their best potential and have a better quality of life.
My specific areas of interest are Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD) and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). I completed a MSc in CBT at the Institute of Psychiatry, University of London. I am also trained in Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR). I worked in South West London & St George’s NHS Trust for a National specialist unit for anxiety disorders and also managed the regional service.
I maintain my accreditation and principles of good practice with regular peer supervision with accredited CBT practitioners. I am currently completing a PhD in CBT and teach on post-graduate psychology modules at the University of Derby. I also present at conferences and publish in scientific journals.
I am a Chartered Clinical Psychologist with over 20 years' experience of working in psychological services within the NHS, and 5 years in private practice. As a Clinical Psychologists I am trained to do in-depth assessments of the full range of mental health problems and to provide treatments based on practical and theoretical knowledge of a number of therapeutic approaches, My main area of specialism is in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), in which I have done considerable additional training. CBT is a therapeutic approach which has a strong scientific evidence base for the treatment of a wide range of mental health problems. It is often recommended by GPs as it is the recommended evidence-based treatment for depression and anxiety-related disorders by The National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE).
